First Few Watercolor Pieces
Posted on January 27th, 2017
So for Christmas I got myself a really nice set of watercolors from Daniel Smith. It took a week to set up and I have like one picture of that process. But I’m here to put up my first month’s watercolor art pieces. Hopefully over time I will make some sort of progress. Woo two blog posts in one day because I’m unpredictable as fuck WHOA!
First I had to fill up my half pans. Done at an angle so my brush would sweep over the whole surface and not make a well in the center. This is to save the brush and prolong its life. I care because I got a fancy brush and they’re not cheap (Kolinsky sable). If anyone wants to know the colors I got and the brush just let me know in a comment.
This was all inspired by a December (maybe November) watercolor I did with Brandon.
So I got a little watercolor sketchbook and I’m working on filling it up 🙂
Thoughts on “The Old Man and the Sea”
Posted on January 27th, 2017
Just picked up Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea” [ISBN 9780684801223] at the Goodwill bookstore by my therapist’s office. Here’s the wisdom $2 got me:
- There’s always a way to keep going and doing your thing if you really want it (p 14)
- “It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes, you are ready.” (p 32)
- Clear away what might make trouble in your life (p 52)
- If people haven’t experienced your pain, they just don’t understand and wont get it (p 68)
- “I am as clear as the stars that they are my brothers.” (p 77)
- If you’re having a negative thought, just tell yourself to stop thinking about it! (p 88, 111)
- Giving up is so easy once you realize you’re beaten (p 120)
The old man is so wise and even curses himself for being so. The tale is simple and deep. I recommend it if you want a classic to read in an afternoon. (oh yea bonus, it’s so short)
It felt good to get a book and finish it a few days later. I’m a slow reader and I rarely get to feel these little accomplishments, especially because I never actually finish books. But here’s hoping the old man has got me on a better trend.

Sneakers of My Heart
Posted on July 27th, 2016
I’m a fan of Converse, but I’ve been trying to branch out into the wide world of tennis shoes. I have been combing through my fav websites with a lust for these sneakers – which is pretty unusual for me. I guess the Adidas trend sparked some interest in sneakers for me. Without further ado, here are my mid-summer sneaker pics!

Jupiter’s Bright Auroras
Posted on June 30th, 2016
Jupiter has a very strong magnetic field, and generates equally intense auroras. They can be up to 1000 km wide, and have features that correspond with the 4 largest moons and solar activity reaching Jupiter. The auroras vary in brightness and intensity, but never fully go away. Today, these are currently at a peak, as seen by the Hubble Telescope on June 30th, 2016. Check out the NASA website to learn more about Jupiter, and other awesome space phenomena! Don’t forget – Juno, the newest science satellite arrives at Jupiter on July 4th! The mission of Juno is to study Jupiter’s composition, gravity field, magnetic field, and polar magnetosphere.
See below, the still picture of the auroras taken by Hubble on June 30th, 2016.

Members Only // Back from the Dead
Posted on May 10th, 2016
I used to hear stores from my parents of what was cool in the 80’s. Among the Topsider’s and Ray-Ban’s were Members Only jackets. I knew they used to be cool, but didn’t see them coming back any time soon. Oh dear have they returned, and with some serious style. They have the Members Only Racer originals and some of the sleekest modern jackets I’ve seen outside haute couture. It’s totally worth checking out the new collection.
For a brand that was once the peak of 80’s style to come back with such a new, updated take on themselves is so exciting, and also refreshing! I’m so over retro shit! I want some good names, some companies that know what they’re doing, to surprise me, and that is exactly what Members Only did. Members Only is killing it and I can’t wait to see people’s responses.
Who doesn’t love chic branding? Love the black, Racer Team Jacket
And the fact that they’re all paired with some Converse hightops really seals the deal for me.
